Mark's Story
My wife and I moved to Phoenix after I retired from the Air Force in 1998. She wanted someplace where it didn't snow. (It snowed here 2 weeks before Christmas that year).
During my Air Force career, the Air Force must have thought I liked snow country, they stationed me in all the the hot spots - Montana, Alaska, Nebraska (thus I Hate the Cornhuskers), Kansas, Denver, Alaska again, and then Ohio where I met my wife.
From Ohio I was lucky enough to leave the hot spots of the northern United States and get a vacation spot - Hawaii. From Hawaii I ended up at Fairchild AFB, Spokane, WA for my last assignment.
While in the Air Force I operated, maintained, trained, instructed, supervised and managed. I maintained and trained the Minuteman II and III security systems, was a systems technician on Titan missles, operated and maintained an old analog satellite communications system and a couple different digital systems. nstructor. When we left Ohio for Hawaii, I became a Technical Advisor to an Air National Guard communications group. Hawaii was the best! I worked with the Guard, finally flying on Air Force aircraft, visiting Japan, Korea, Guam, and Thailand. While in WA I went to Saudi Arabia on temporary duty for 3 months (Al Karq and Dharan)
After we retired from the Air Force, I earned my bachelor's degree, and found an opportunity as a technical instructor until I was laid off. While I was an instructor I started work on my MBA, concentrating in Information Systems.
The wife and I make it back to Buffalo at least once a year to my parents. We visit my family and friends, and usually take a short trip some where. Wandered up to Alexandria Bay last year and around the Finger Lakes the year before. This year we'll be up for my niece's wedding. Hmm, that's also a reason we'll be up in 2011. Another niece will be getting married.
We visit my family. The wife visits her sisters.
