Mark's Story
Life
I attended the junior college in Visalia, majoring in Accounting, and then attended CSU at Fresno where I changed to a Business Degree. After college I went to work for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in their Buildings and Real Estate Department. This department built and maintained the buildings that company owned for the telephone switching equipment, and all of the rest of the facility needs of a big company.
I spent almost 20 years working in that industry through many company name changes and mergers. I worked out of Visalia for a few years, then San Jose for a few years, Walnut Creek for a few years and then San Ramon until I left the Company. My last 3 years with them I handled the building work for the non-regulated companies across California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and part of Texas. Southwest Airlines was my friend based on how much I traveled at that point. I managed well over $600 million in building projects during my time with that organization. When SBC purchased Pacific Telesis and the finial take over happened, I was no longer needed so I left the big company and started my own general contracting business in San Ramon, CA.
I started Scuba Diving when I moved to the Bay Area in 1983 and ended up teaching scuba diving, C...Expand for more
PR and other related courses for about 15 years. The club is called Aqua Tutus, a non-profit SCUBA Diving club. The club stated in 1955 and is based on teaching. SCUBA Diving allowed me to spend a lot of time on the coast of California diving from Fort Bragg down to Santa Barbara. I really enjoyed Monterey and lived in Seaside for about 4 years.
One day my wife Joy said she was ready to get out of the Bay Area so we moved to Kailua Kona, HI where I started a new company called Maleko Built, Inc. and moved my general contracting business. Maleko is the Hawaiian name for Mark, so I thought it would be a good company name. I am in residential &commercial remodeling here. I have completed a lot of kitchens, bath and condo remodels for people. I have had quite of few Sunset Magazine type jobs which are always very challenging and a lot of fun to do. My wife and I are both Real Estate agents working for Clark Realty which is a great company here in Kailua Kona and I also ended back in farmingâ¦â¦â¦coffee this time. 100% Kona Coffee. You can take the boy off the farm, but canât take the farm out of the boy!
So here I am, married to a nice lady, 2 step kids, 3 dogs, lots of Guppies also!
God has been good to me!
Drop me a line some time.
Aloha
