Right now we have 4 cats, and two birds.
My Kids
My son, Andy, graduated from North Harrison in 1998, and after spending a year in Iraq with the Army Reserve's 192nd Quartermaster Co., is now living in Georgia; daughter Kayla graduated from North Harrison in 2002, and works at New Albany/Floyd County School Corp....and gave birth to our first grandchild, Robert Markus Alexander, on August 27, 2007.
College
At Rose-Hulman, I just didn't fit in with the "nerd" culture. My roommate was Nathan Mann, a guy a little more certain of his direction than me...but no less out-of-place there.
At IUS, it was a drive-in college...so it was a 'drive-by' education.
At ISU, officially I majored in journalism, with a minor in broadcasting. UNofficially, I majored in spades, with a minor in euchre...with some independent study in alcohol consumption. My roommate was Kevin Killen, a/k/a "Lonesone Cowboy Bert," a kid from Philadelphia with wild, "white-boy-'fro" ...Expand for more
hair and a sense of adventure. I remember the night he was demonstrating one of his pastimes, lighting flatulence. He had a book of matches taped to his bedpost specifically for this purpose. This particular night, "Bert" apparently had a "backdraft," and burned a 3" hole in the seat of a nice pair of brown polyester pants.
John Lord, a/k/a "Johnny Wadd," had the room next door. John pledged the nonexistent Sigma Chi fraternity, and his pledgemaster, ex-football player Dave Robinson, put John through "Hell Week" for an entire year. The guys from Indianapolis Ben Davis high school who lived on the floor were Dave's "partners-in-crime," and they included Rod Garvin, Steve Wolfe--who drove an Opel--and Tom Veatch.
In 2005 Tower Automotive closed the Corydon plant where I'd been working since 2000, so I got the opportunity to go back to college at Ivy Tech. In May, 2007, I graduated with honors from IVY Tech with an Associates Degree in Automotive Management.
