Mark's Story
Life
I'm second from the right in the photo- its not Halloween, I'm a minister and the Prior of my religious order (the church really does take ANYBODY:)). Thankfully, High School was not the best years of my life. Every decade my life has been better and more blessed than the last one, though I miss having a thick head of hair and a memory (one too many "camping trips" on Clausland mountain, maybe).
I fell into a wonderful career working with people with mental disabilities and was blessed to be able to be part of the community movement and even to run a non-profit organization for many years. On the way I met my wife Kate, one of the finest human beings I've...Expand for more
ever known (except for my 2 boys of course:)). About 9 years ago I guess life was too simple so, answering a call (might have been a wrong number-the jury is still out) I went to seminary and was ordained as a minister in the United Church of Christ in 1998. I'm now the pastor of a small but lively church who moonlights in developmental disabilities services. I live by the Great South Bay on Long Island, work for justice, root for the Mets, read eclectically and voraciously, watch the Simpsons, love running, kayaking with my wife and surfing with my sons. I wish I'd kept in better touch with some of you, because you were ( and are still I'm sure) great people.
