Mark's Story
Life
Independent consultant by day; folksinger by night, I have been performing my infectious mix of contemporary folk, old-timey country, and original tunes at coffeehouses, folk festivals, and open mics all over Northern Illinois for the past six years. I've also two CDs, "Spiders and Mushrooms" (solo recording) and "A Child's Garden of Classics" (with my partner Jean Adaskevach)
School
After graduating high school, I went on to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I majored in Agriculture (my field of study was Animal Science). I originally hoped to become a veterinarian. My grades and test scores were good, but "good" wasn't good enough for vet school. So, after graduation in 1985, I went on to Purdue University, where I received my MS degree in Animal Science.

orking career with a company that will remain nameless. I say that because I left after four weeks. It's a long story, but let's just say it was the sh__ job to end all sh__ jobs. After that I had an eleven year career with the Continental Grain Company, where I worked as an animal nutritionist, diet formulator, and pricing analyst. Unfortunately, the company sold their feed division to another firm. I had no desire to move to Mankato, MN, so I spent the next year and a half "in transition." After a series of temp jobs, I finally landed a full-time job with Technomic, Inc., a market research and consulting firm for the foodservice industry, where I work as a consultant.
In April, 2008, I left Technomic. I am currently "in transition." Right now, I'm working a contract position over at Nestlé Clinical Nitrition in Buffalo Grove.
