Mark's Story
Life
I have a wonderful cat, named Kiki McFurby. He is my life. I teach him sign language, and sew him new outfits once a week. (He loves the biker outfit the most.) I spend my free time training for the National Stare-off championships, interpretive dance and washing my hands. I am married, with two children, and get to see them twice a month, supervised. All the court orders expire in August (woo hoo!), so I will be free to move about the country once again. Mr. McFurby and I have already planned a trip to Conway, SC. Paaaarrrtttttaaaayy!
School
Spring Valley was the highlight of my educational life. It's been downhill ever since. A really big, steep hill, too. I still drive the same car I had in high school, a 1979 Mazda GLC, bright orange, 782,000 miles so far. Still wear parachute pants when appropriate. I am currently studying to design video games, through a computer course I bought on Ebay. I am still waiting for a letter of acceptance from Midlands Tech, for a night course on security guard training, but my 460 SAT score (fifth try) doesn't help. I consider myself a student of life, mainly because I can't get into any regular or reputable "school".
College
I once drove by a college, I think. Isn't Richland Northeast a college?
Workplace
Why can't my fellow employees understand? All of the condiments need to be right beside the drive-thru window! ...Expand for more
This is what I deal with on a daily basis. Man, I miss just sitting in class, trying not to fall asleep in geography, or geology, whichever is the one about rocks. Those were the days. Hopefully my boss will move me to full time this year. Eight years is a long time, but having that title, Assistant Fry Cook, will be awesome. I can 't wait to rub that in the faces of all those people who said I would never amount to anything. And don't expect any free food, either.
Military
I joined the Army in 1994 after college to become a Russian linguist in military intelligence. I went to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for basic training, which was a cross between "Full Metal Jacket" and "Stripes". I then went to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California to learn Russian. I left there to go to San Angelo, Texas, to the Air Force Intelligence School, then went to Army Intelligence School at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. My final duty station was at Fort Hood, in Killeen, Texas. It was paradise, if you like strip malls and tatoo parlors. Kind of like a larger, but run-down Pontiac, SC. I was in the 104th Military Intelligence Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, where I tested the developing intelligence gathering equipment to be used in the 21st century, (the stuff they used to find Sadam.) I left the army in 1998 at the rank of Sergeant. (This part of my bio is actually true.)
