Mark's Story
I really enjoyed my time in Japan from 1965-1972. I went to DOD schools on three different U.S. military bases:
Johnson AB 1965-69 Johnson Jr. High 7-8 grade and Johnson High School Freshman/Sophomore. Good friends, good times, new exciting experiences.
Camp Zama 1969-1970-Actually lived in HaraMachida and commuted to the nearby bases. Junior year, sports, music, thespian, spread pretty thin for such a short time! Loved it. Special thanks to Art Scott, Parker Simes for the music and a long list of others for the friendship and good times. Our wrestling team startled the Kanto Plains by flexing at the dual meets and placing several on the podium at the Far East Tourney.
1970-1971 Itazuke AB. Moved south to Kyushu. Visited Expo '70 over the summer...on my own. Start over making many new friends and having great times with music and sports. Some of those folks are both close and distant friends for life. Very special times. As it tu...Expand for more

Back for the summer to Camp Zama..lived in Sagamihara Housing Annex, after my Freshman year at college at Kansas State University. Great times. Way too short. Came so close to the mindset of staying.
Finished college at KSU, BS in Elementary Ed. Decided not to teach. Went to work, married, have 3 beautiful daughters grown, two graced me with grandchildren (already!). Circumstances worked to making the choice to be unmarried a while back. I enjoy playing music (google markrobertsbass), exercising, cycling, collecting vintage clocks, time with my daughters and grandchildren, my good friends, and the work I do.
It is a wonderful thing to be able to touch base with people from the past...without a site like this or the internet...we could live blocks apart going on with the business of our lives and never know that someone you knew in a far away land could be right around the corner!
