Mark's Story
I am originally from Perth Amboy, New Jersey where I attended Public Schools No. 10 (1971) and No. 7 (1971-76) and William C. McGinnis Junior High School (1976-77, 78) I lived in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico for a year. I moved to Chicago at the age of 12 and attended James G. Blaine (1979) and Louis A. Nettlehorst Elementary Schools (1979-80). I attended Near North Career Magnet [now Near North Career Metro] (1980), which is now closed, Lake View (1980-81) and Theodore Roosevelt Senior (1981-1984) High Schools. At the age of 21 I moved to Juan Diaz, Puerto Rico where I lived for 4 years. In PR I attended Cuerpo de Voluntarios [Job Corp] (1988-89) and Escuela Tecnica de Electricidad (1989-90) where I trained to be an Electrician; graduated top of my class in both occasions. I returned to Chicago in 1992. I attended Wilbur Wright City College (2005-2009) and graduated from Instituto Biblico Ebenezer (1994-95, 2010-12, 2012-13). I am a high school dropout, but obtained my GED in Puerto Rico in July 1988 and again in Chicago in April 2005. I am a former member of Illinoise Circle (1982-2006), co-founder and former member of Class Reunion (2007-22) and the JAD & Shaggy Trio (2022-25). Class Reunion was formed with ex-high school (Roosevelt) classmates Jonathan A. Demas (JAD), who plays bass, sings and writes the lyrics to some of our songs, and Dave Cheesman on drums. I (Shaggy Docious) play guitar, bass, drums, sing and write both music & lyrics for our songs. Plus, I am co-writer for other songs by non-member George Getner (former band mate of Illinoise Circle). Jon and had our own recording studio called Class Records, in Chicago and Wood Dale, IL. We not only recorded our own music, but we created music for other lyricists who wanted music put to their words.
Currently, I have gone solo (again) due to creative differences with members of the JAD & Shaggy Trio. I have started recording all original songs (which I will be sharing here soon), and some are now on some mainstream platforms (Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, etc) , under my stage name Shaggy Docious.
