Mark's Story
May 2026 update: Our focus remains the rebuilding of our Pacific Palisades home, following its destruction in the 2025 Pacific Palisades wildfires. We finally resumed international travel in May 2026, visiting Croatia, Turkiye, Greece, Montenegro, and Bosnia. Alas, our lives are gradually returning to normal!
I’m still enjoying a wonderful relationship with my partner; after nearly 23 years she remains my soul mate and survivor, partner in adventure, personal confidant, intellectual sounding board, and best friend. I have a son, working in the veterinary sciences, that I love greatly and am very proud of.
My career included a short period in the biomedical industry; 15 years of engineering consulting; 25 years of management consulting; and eight years teaching graduate business school as an adjunct professor. I dedicate my free time to wine studies (final stages...Expand for more
of earning the WSET Level 4 diploma), music composition and recording, learning new musical instruments, home cooking, and international travel.
I’ve been fortunate to accomplish much of my bucket list, having traveled to 69 countries and lived for extended periods in New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. My favorite experiences include trekking the Everest trail in the Himalayas; summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro; exploring the rain forests of Borneo, Brunei, and Peru; and visiting the Jokhang Buddhist temple in Lhasa.
I am blessed to have been surrounded throughout my life by loving, adventurous, brilliant, and inspirational people, some of whom have since passed but left their indelible prints on my life. I miss them, think of them daily, and will never forget.
I hope all of you, traveling your own unique paths, are healthy, happy, and still finding magic in life.
