Mark's Story
Joined the Coast Guard in 1974 right after graduating from PCHS. Spent some time at sea then went to Electronics School on Governors Island in New York Harbor. Spent some nearly idyllic months in Petaluma, California waiting for the big trip to Alaska. Finally landed at Tanacross Airport one fall evening in 1976 and have been an Alaskan ever since. r reporter, telephone man, local government administrator a grant writer, worked in Tribal Administration and now working in the substance abuse treatment space. I married a lovely Yup'ik woman 44 years ago and we have 6 kids, 8 grandkids and two great grandchildren. I live in Bethel now and am not really hard to find. I'm a ham radio operator (General Class, callsign WL7BCT).
