Mark's Story
Life
After Ajax High, I attended Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo and followed that by living and working in Asia for several years in the mid-90s. Currently I work for a major IT company in Toronto and have a second career as a musician. I direct a choir and am a freelance accompanist for singers and instrumentalists, including members of the Toronto, Oshawa-Durham and Windsor Symphonies. I still enjoy travelling and may work overseas again one day.

Greenbrier (K to 5, 1973-79)
Tall principal Mr. Taylor; Mr. Sutherland's pink pants; "Brantford City, Brantford City, the people are nice and the parks are pretty"; Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Myles; the big kids doing a production of the "Mikado"; soccer at recess where we imitated hockey players: "We're Team Canada!...No, WE are!"... Long time ago...
Southwood Park (Grade 6, 1979-80)

Lord Durham (Grades 7, 8, 1980-82)
Great fun. Lockers for the first time; instrumental music (I've never stopped playing); no recess anymore; construction of the new addition; girls wearing (k)nickers; our MP and MPP visiting history class; Mr. Moon's science class; shop and Family Studies at Duffin's Bay; Ozzy rules!!!; school newspaper; winning speech and science fair project... Mrs. Meehan, Miss Wilson/Wassill, Mrs. Brett.
Ajax High (Grades 9 to 13, 1982-87)
Being a 'minor niner' with my neighbour in Grade 13 and his buddies threatening to initiate me despite it being outlawed by that point; punks and wavers; music, music and more music; band trips to Boston, Vancouver; rock concerts - Rush, Triumph, Bon Jovi, David Wilcox, Tears for Fears, Howard Jones, U2 (now that's eclectic); band concerts and competitions; the library featuring Mrs. Von Ploennies; Mr. Fine, Miss Kopti, Mr. Danter, Dr. Porter, Mr. Jeffries and of course 'Uncle Fred' Mr. Pleasants; all the guys wearing mini skirts to school in Grade 12 to protest the "no shorts" policy (they changed it!).
