Mark's Story
Life after Amherst H.S. - Spent two years at Mount Hermon School . Busted out on Grades at the end of my Junior Year. Transfered to Tilton after completing Summer School there. Spent my senior year there and graduated in the June 1964. Spent the summer working at Point Breeze Resort, Wolfboro, N.H. for room and board. Enrolled in Sept 1964 at Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio.worked the next four years for a B.S.in Biology, a B.A. in History and a commision in the AF Reserve. I completed Ground Electronics Course 44 wks ( Radar Maintenance ) at Maltby Hall, Annex at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS in Late June 1969. Transfered to Hof AS , W. Germany, 6915th Security Sg, USAFSS. Spent two wonderful years of a three year assignment there. When the Hof Air Station was closed, I was transfered to the 1st Geodetic Survey Sq, F.E. Warren AFB, Cheyene, WY arriving in July 1971. After adapting to the climate, dry air nose bleeds, lots of sunshine and abundance of wind. This was my second career broading assignment. I spent three years supporting the world wide operations of the GSSq mapping, surveying and gravity densification operations. I met my future wife (Joyce) via a mutual friend stationed at Warren in 1972. ...Expand for more
I was transfered on a remote assignment to 2149th Communications Group, Osan AB, Republic of South Korea. My introduction to Far Eastern culture, gave me a much greater appreciation for life here ( CONUS). Joyce flew over to Korea in Spring 1975 and we were married in Seoul. In multiple steps I was released by the Command I.G. visit as surplus to group in May 1975. I returned on a joint spouse assignment to Warren AFB Assigned to the SAC Communications Sq. We stayed at F.E. Warren until separation in Nov 1979. We bought a small Ranch 17 miles West of Kalispell, MT and tried raising organic beef for 10+ years. Started a family with daughter Jennifer arrival in 1987. After medical problems with my son Robert born late 1988. We sold the ranch and moved closer to town. Now we are 10 miles East of Kalispell but in the main part of the Flathead Valley. Have a small vegtable garden, a few fruit trees. a raspberry patch and a flock of chickens, 5 dogs and one horse. This a well censored version of my travels and adventures but covers the high points. Some day, I hope to have the time to write out the entire story ( Highs and Lows ) but this will suffice for now. Must close and get back to reality. Adieu. MLS
