Mark's Story
Life
1985-1986 Took a year off before university - worked at Belk at the Hanes Mall
1986-1992 East Carolina University: Meandered my way through university. "Lived" in the art building for 5 1/2 years learning Graphic Design and Art Direction. Had two wonderful girlfriends and made a few lifelong friends.
1992-1997 Five years in the agency world, working as an Art Director and Senior Designer for LHC, now Mullen, an IPG agency. Traveled on business a lot, worked a lot of long hours. Dated several great women and made many lifelong friends at the agency, including an Australian friend and colleague who introduced me to my wife, Anna.
1996 Father died
1997 Started my own design shop and got married. Both have had their ups and downs! Anna, my wife, was born and raised in L...Expand for more
ondon and we make two trips a year over the pond to visit with friends and family
2000 Mother died
2000 First child, Abigail Emmaline Tirrell, born in Dec. Changed my life - for the better
2001-2002 Built a new house off Peacehaven in W-S
2004 Second child, Oliver Richard Tirrell, born in May. We're now a family of four and spend a lot of time together [ I work from a home office ]. Celebrated seven years of marriage and seven in business for myself.
College
started university in 1986. left there in 1992 - without a degree. i think this says it all! got what i went for, though: training and a portfolio of work
Workplace
worked for five years at long haymes & carr [ now mullen ] an IPG ad agency. have spent seven years now building my own firm and love every day
