MY LIFE!! AFTER DHS: After HS graduation I went right to Stetson, living at home and working for tuition by delivering the Daytona News Journal every morning at 3:00 am on my Vespa. I got my BBA in Marketing and Management in 1968. The summer after graduation I spent 3 months backpacking in Europe with college friend Peggy Day. That lit the fire, and since then I have traveled extensively for both work and pleasure: China, India, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Spain, Croatia, Crete, Hungary, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, Honduras, Belize, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Peru (Machu Picchu), Ireland, Scotland, Finland, Estonia, Denmark, Thailand, Cambodia, The Azores, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. Though the years I have also travelled multiple times to England, France, Italy, Austria, Greece, Mexico, Sweden, Italy, Russia, Netherlands, and Germany, PROFESSIONAL LIFE: My first job was in 1968 as an Assistant Buyer at J.B. Ivey's department store in Orlando. Marriage took me to Virginia and from 1971-74 I was a Systems Analyst in the Market Research Department of Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock in VA; A move to DC started with a job at Harbridge House (consulting); then in late 1975 I got a dream job as a Project Manager in the Maritime Transportation Research Board at the National Research Council (NRC), the operating arm of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering (NAE), and Institute of Medicine, and nonprofit advisors to the U.S. government.
