Marlene's Story
Life
I went to 3 different high schools. For a few years I kept in contact with a few from Lake Stevens High School and regret having lost contact with them.
After high school I moved to Orcas Island Washington to live with my sister for the summer. I met my future husband and stayed on the island for 10 years. We lived in a couple towns in the Oregon Sandy-Boring areas until moving to Winlock Washington. We have been here for 18 years.
We live on 1.99 acres, just out of the city limits. This year will be the 13th year I will have hosted a family reunion/campout at my place. We usually have 60 Â 80 family members come for that weekend.
I currently work as a paraeducator at our local elementary school. I have worked there for 11years. It is the best job ever. I love working with the children. We have a great staff. And I love having my summers off.
My husband and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this summer. We ar...Expand for more
e celebrating with a 2 week trip to the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, where he was born and his family homesteaded. He hasnÂt been back since he was seven years old. His sister, brother-in-law, and mother are coming too. We are renting a motor home so we wonÂt be tied to a schedule as to when to go where.
My husband has always worked as a logger. He presently is a log truck owner/operator. He has done this for the last few years. He is keeping busy with it. We do the bookwork together. I donÂt understand his paperwork and he doesnÂt understand the computer.
We have 2 great children. My son is in the Army National Guard. He was called to active duty in November 2003 and is currently in Kuwait.
My daughter recently got her college degree and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force. After 7 weeks of training in Mississippi she will be headed to her duty station in Hawaii. I am looking forward to visiting her there.
