Kathleen Marnie's Story

The people from my past who I'd most like to see again would be Nadiya Zaverganitz, Joanne Williams, Rosemary Gibson, Terry Morenci, Cathy Tower Judy Reimer and Teresa Grouette. These were my very best friends as a child and teen and I have tried to locate them many times without success.. I guess Mr. Lowe from Lord Tweedsmuir and Mr. Peters and Mr. Pickett from Newton Jr. would have to be the teachers who had the most profound effect on my life and decisions I have made since. I would love to have an hour to chat with each of them today. Ben and I married in June 1975, about the time of grad, I left school in April and we married in June, 1975, in July 1976 we had our first child, a son, Benjamin Alan, and in November 1977 our daughter, Teresa Diane. We raised our children in Langley, Whalley, White Rock and Surrey until 1989, at which time we purchased our first home in Abbotsford. We remained in Abby for nineteen years, selling out in 2008 and moving to the town of Porcupine Plain, SK in May 2008. We love small town saskatchewan life, it reminds both of us of the Surrey we grew up in back in the sixties and early seventies....or Mayberry, USA or Dog River, SK..... you get my drift. While we were living in White Rock I entered a ...Expand for more
program for training to work in a legal office and did my practicum with the Burnaby firm of Hean, Wylke, Peach De Stefanis. I worked for them for 13 years, commuting 11 of those years from Abbotsford to Burnaby. During that time, myself and two co-workers did the part time program for Paralegal through Capilano College and graduated in 1993. I left the Burnaby firm seven years later, to work as a paralegal again at an Abbotsford firm, Robertson, Downe and Mullally in Abbotsford, for 6 1/2 years I enjoyed thoroughly working in this firm, becoming one of the family and loving every minute of my days. Regrettably, an auto immune disease struck my organs in 2002 and over the next five to six years, my health deteriorated. I am now on dialysis at home every night as my kidneys have failed, I just had two stents in a coronary artery and am awaiting a foot amputation to be able to qualify for a kidney transplant. My fabulous husband, loving kids and grandkids give me so many reasons to keep up the fight and live as long as I can to be with them. Ben and I celebrated 36 years of marriage this past June - no one could ask for a better spouse or family and I am richly blessed in friends and acquaintences. - And what are all of you up to???
