Marsha's Story

Since I was such a shy nerd in High School, I doubt I would be remembered, except for, "that girl that barks like a dog and upsets the bus driver!" ;) Beyond DHHS, I took my horse (okay, only horse people would understand!), went to college, got my degree and then found myself terribly bored with the 8 to 5 routine. Began showing up at Punchline, and eventually became a regular opening act. A call from the popular Gary McKee (94-Q radio station in Atlanta before it became a Star station) got me doing improv in the AM. After that, I found my "voice", so to speak, and have been doing radio/TV commercials/IVR, and documentaries ever since! Wheeha! I well remember scooting from my day job during lunch hour to the radio station(s) to do free commercials just to get experience. At the beginning, I was so terrified of the mic, my heart would race, and I would start hyper-ventilating. It frustrated the heck out of me, because I knew it was my calling, but if I couldn't control my breathing, I'd be toast! Luckily, I eventually got that under control. Wasted a whole lot of oxygen in the process, though! At one point, in the mid nineties, I was hired by Star 94 on April Fool's Day to play "Bart Simpson" on the evening drive. Heaven's, I'm not Nancy Cartwright, bu...Expand for more
t halfway into the show, I realized the DJ running the show actually thought I was her! What a compliment!! Oh, and the DJ? A 17 year old Ryan Seacrest! Case in point to always follow your dreams! :) At my day job many years ago, I would eat lunch with a very quiet woman (as opposed to me, annoyingly mimicking every sound in my environment!:) Her dream was to go to Harvard and study theology. Mine was to become a voice over talent. We shared this over peanut butter and banana sandwiches outside, away from the chaos of work for that little hour of time... She not only went to Harvard, she graduated and is a professor at Emory University in Atlanta. I am a voice over talent. It truly is amazing...one other person believing in your dreams can make a world of difference. Receiving or Giving, we all have the power to help each other achieve our respective goals. How cool is that? Life is rough and tumble (IMHO), and the bad times come with the good. If everything were perfect, I think we'd all be bored to death, and unappreciative of those wonderful times/sheer moments that make our hearts sing. Love, laughter and the very best to all, Marsha :) PS ::: hushed tone ::: Remember... follow your dreams!! There will be a test at the end of this message ;)
