Mary's Story
I only want to tell you about my ugly shoes.
You think "ugly shoes" and ¿no big deal¿ in the same mental breath, I know. You probably get a picture of some crusty, squashed Hush Puppies, or Grandma¿s beige orthopedic Mary Janes. Repulsive, yes, but in the expected-of-shoes passive manner.
My shoes are leprosy-and-vindictive-attitude ugly. Aggressively, actively ugly. Wall-eyed, buck-toothed, armed and inbred ugly. These bad boys go out at night to hone and maximize their ugly. r warty rubber toe caps in the ugly dirt in search of ugly pods and scabrous spore packets to cram under their slavering tongues. They grind their snaggled treads into the muck at the edge of Lake Ugly, then they roll in it, having discovered the fantastic bonus of a rotting fish carcass with which to anoint themselves.
They kick little furry wild creatures.
As the sun rises on the end of the ugly orgy, they hitch and shuffle their crusted carcasses back to my closet, where they squat on surly haunches, baleful eyelets watching for the approach of my innocent feet.
But of course, they¿re really comfy.
