Martha's Story

I married Arvin S Osborne first , in 1950 had 3 children by 1956, stayed married to "Pony" for 25 years, then divorced him because of his drinking and running around with other women, although I was truly not aware of his unfaithfulness til I left him. I was foolish enough to trust him. I stayed single for three years then married Leo Donel Baumann who was 18 years my senior, stayed married to him until his death in 2000, never regretting for one second marrying him. We loved each other dearly, and I really appreciated him after being married to the alcoholic for so many years. I have two daughter's who disowned me several years back because I would not accept their disrespect for me. I blamed myself for a long time but I have since realized I did nothing to deserve such disrespect. They are extremely selfish, which I'm sure they will regret some day!!! They treat other family members the same way they treat me so I'm not the only one subject to their nastiness!! My son, however is good to me, All I have to do is call him and he does his best to help me!! He lives quite far away, in Martinsville, and is married with children and grandchildren, works, but still comes when I need him!!!!!! I'm not very healtthy in my later years, but for the most part am contented, have a nice apartment, don't drive any more and will probably be on dialysis sooner or later!! Can't believe I'm telling all this on the internet, but the truth is the truth, no need in trying to hide it!!!!!!Made a lot of mistakes in my life, for inst...Expand for more
ance, should have become a professional singer, instead of marrying, but hindsight is 20/20. I truly do not have too many regrets. The one thing I'm really greatfull for is knowing I have the LOVE OF GOD !!!!!! Some day I will be reunited with my loved one's who have gone home to God before me!!! As of December 21, 2012, I am on dialysis three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for four hours each day, can watch TV or read or sleep in a comfortable recliner, I can also, snack. Although I would rather not be a patient I have learned a great deal about the body and have had to drastically change my diet and way of life. They say "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" but I have learned several. I had to have a fistula, surgically made in my left arm (since I'm right handed) to allow access to do dialysis. This took several months to heal, then when they started dialysis the nurse and tech had trouble with my access so I had to have a "perm cath" anchored in my chest to use temporarily till the bruising of my fistula cleared up, t could not take a shower for about six weeks till the "perm Cath" could be removed. Then I had to be transported to Greenfield for dialysis for a while because they lost several techs at the unit in Shelbyville. I finally got transferred to Shelbyville in February this year after they got a new tech, and they were not the nurses and techs, that they are in Greenfield, but, Martha, has no problem, going to the Grievance line and telling it like it is. Things are finally getting better
