Martha's Story
Life
It seems impossible that a year and 1/2 has gone by since my return from Ireland. I continue working with University of Maryland Health Systems as the lead program developer and Speech/language pathologist. We have just completed computerizing FIM, of which we have a patent and trademark. That was quite exciting and will lead me to more consulting. FIM is functional out come measures in healthcare and my concept was using an algorithm to develop 18 domains with seven functional outcome measures under each domain. Nursing and therapy enter data on each domain and we are able to discharge plan and develop strategies per each neurological disorder, including treatment Protocals that yield functional outcomes.
I continue teaching my classes at the University and start teaching a class at the art Studio in Easton, MD. It will be nice using both sides of my brain and actually doing four things I enjoy tremendously: speech Language pathology, Education, photography and Art. ation Smile again this coming year to Morocco. I also will return to Spain--Zaragoza in Aragon. I love Spain and South France.
Many of you remember my Dad, John Hardwick, the Dentist. He passed the end of October. I am having a service in his memory at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. An Osprey wreath will be place in his honor at Black water animal habitat on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. A memory book will be on the web with his letters to me while I lived in Ireland and so many of the pictures I took. Each of you will be sent the site and pictures of the Habitat nest in his honor. My Father's ashes are next to my beloved mothers, grandparents and great-grandmother in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Kindest Regards and keep in touch. Martha (Marty) Hardwick
Workplace
My work as a speech / language pathologist has been very rewarding and challenging. Currently, I am working on a project with the University of Maryland. Our team is developing a much needed Neuro Acute Rehab program. Each member of the team has been recruited internationally and we have a lofty group.
