Martha's Story

After graduation from Oil City High School, I attended Grove City (PA) College for 2 years. While in the town, I met a young guy and we married within a 1/2 year. We lived in Pa. and Montana and then back to PA. I worked as teacher's aide until we left for TX where we served with Wycliffe Bible Translators. There I finished my university work at Dallas Baptist University with El. Ed. degree. Our 2 kids Peggy (now 46) & Chaz (now 47) enjoy it here more than PA. My husband and I divorced and I married again the same year. My second husband and I housed my daughter and her 2 sons for 6 of our 15 1/2 years together. I also begin to teach with Duncanville, TX ISD. After another marriage ended, I met the LOVE of my life. We married on March 8, '03, but Bill passed away June 27, of 2015. Oh how I miss him. Even tho I am retired. I still work almost daily. I remarried again after Bill died June 27th of "15. I moved to Anna, TX where my new husband had his home. I was recently hired by Childcare network. I know I am going to enjoy working with a new aged children,,,,a babies. My 2 blood kids and 2 grand kids live in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area. Doug and I found a church but are not yet active working in the church yet. My health has not been the best. The doctors' offices know me quite well, BUT God has blessed me to continue to work. Thru several friends who have had back surgery, I located a Dr. who was able to do the surgery on Sept. 25, '13. He put 3 "cages" between Lumber 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4, then decompressed the nerve at the Lumbar 4-5 level.. What we thought was a 5 1/2 h...Expand for more
our surgery to an eight hour surgery. I was put out so long that I had hallucinations and talked to people who were not there. My husband was trying to understand all my craziness, but it was for real. I went to Dr. (3-21-14) and he said 20 lbs. is my limit to lift. I had to quit fostering after Bill died cause Bill was my baby sitter when I worked. In June of '06, I retired from 20 years of certified teaching in Duncanville elementary schools. I bought time for the 3 years I was an aide in Corry, Pa. Area School and have my Texas retirement money coming in for 23 years of service. I learned retirement was not for me. I work most of the school days. Hopefully I can touch the lives of some children and give them the attention and friendship they so desperately need. Bill and I visited our church denomination's children's home early in 2008. We had hoped that we could become house parents. We learned that I (since my knee replacements) could not pass Texas state test. One must be able (in case of conflicts) to take a child down to the floor and hold him/her there for about 10 until help might be able to come. My doctor told me never to fall or get on my knees after surgery. I have fallen since then and the pain is very bad. I.n March of '09, Bill and I became licensed as TX state foster parents. We have had 20 foster kids and done respite for about 40 + kids since March of "09 I wondered how I could make a difference in kids' lives so several years I have tutored free. Then we both took the 6 month journey to become foster parents. Now since his death I have let fostering go.

What a coincidence that I scanned Bill's pic of his dad and him exactly 52 years from the time it was taken. He had just finished Air Force basic and was leaving for Abilene where he fought the Vietnam War.
We had a very quick answer to prayer about our little one we got tonight. We are ecstatically happy tonight. She is so beautiful. 5 lbs. + Af. Am. girl.

Our little missy has now doubled her birth weight of 6# 1 oz. She was an even 12# tonight in her b-day suit. Some day she will pottie right down my body when I am weighing her. She has turned into a little screech owl.
After Bible study Wednesday night a lady in the group walked over to 3 of us ladies and asked if we wanted flowers. One did not, I got these. It is just like a little gift from God because that is something I do not let Bil

How true! This church is beside where I used to work. I will miss their neat truthful sayings.
New do. I asked for a lady with experience and she had 29 years.
It was 2 years ago today that Bill Shepard lay in this bed at Charelton Methodist Hospital and breathed his last breath.
I miss his loving, quiet, friendly, and caring manner. He truly was a great man of God who found good
