Martha's Story
I always wanted to be a secretary when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a cool idea. As it turns out, they were right only I took it a step further and went into government administration. Currently I am the City Manager for Fort Valley and loving it!
As most of you may remember, basketball was always my passion and right now, I help with local recreation basketball. I also run the clock for all of the home Crawford County Basketball games. Have been doing so for over twenty years!
Well, I still live in Roberta but I would not have it any other way. I love being near my parents and seeing them every day if I want to. I am contemplating moving to Fort Valley but I will still be close to home.
I am divorced and have two boys - Marchaz (26) and Christopher (15)...Expand for more
. I remember being a single parent and working two and three jobs when Marchaz was little. That meant missing a lot of his ball games. I'll never forget the sad feeling I had when he told me how much he hated that I didnt go to his games. Made me realize that what we think is important to children may not always be what's important to them.
If I had one do-over, I think I would have married my first love and tried to live happily ever after! Seems like the older I get, the harder it is to find someone compatible!
In 10 years, I hope to be retired from the City of Fort Valley and operating my own day care center. I have spent my whole entire career dealing with adults who sometimes act like children...I think I want to spend the rest of my time actually dealing with children!.
