Martha's Story
I've had an interesting life: I've been widowed, divorced, and lost my oldest son when he was 18. Though I've had some adversity, I've had lots of good things, too. I've lived in 6 different states and I had a nice 37 yr career as a Pediatric nurse in 4 of them.
I am a quilter with a penchant for technology and I've combined the two interests in a nifty little sideline business making memory quilts. I've even built my own website. Go to "quiltedmemoriesbymartha.com" to see what I've done
I am a beginning golfer and also enjoy photography and surfing the Internet. Herb I have a solid 26 yr. marriage to a really super guy, and a daughter, now 43, who is my best friend. She and her husband and their 15 yr old son live in San Diego. My grandson is quite the character, very bright and funny. I also have a son, 44, who lives in Albuquerque, NM, as do my husband's two kids: a son, and a daughter who has a bright 6 year old son, and another son who was just born in Nov. 2009. They are the apples of several eyes. I have a handful of truly wonderful friends who love me in spite of my blemishes. I think I can safely say that I have been truly blessed.

me at UNM Hospital on the Oncology floor . I discovered that nursing was more than something I did, it was a part of who I am! My husband had already retired--twice actually, once from the Post Office and once from the Air Force Reserve). He is working on his Master's online through National University (in San Diego).
We moved into our dream home in Rio Rancho NM the last week in Sept, 2008. Rio Rancho is near Albuquerque. We hadn't planned to retire just yet--it was a little early, but fate intervened, and far be it from me to deny destiny!!
We have weekly family dinners and we want to generally enjoy the 3 kids and 2 grandsons who live there--it is our fervent hope that we can establish the same degree of closeness and respect with all of them that we have developed with my daughter in San Diego.
I would love to hear from anyone who may remember me. I wasn't very memorable in high school--I was pretty much an outsider and and something of an oddball, but I've aged pretty well. I'm proud to say that I've turned what was a negative into strength of character. I'm into Facebook big time: "Martha Newman" Rio Rancho, NM. I'm also on LinkedIn, and MySpace.
I would love to find out if your lives turned out to be as different from what you expected as mine did.
