Marty's Story
Life
1969 - I left Maryvale for 6 years in the Marines, completed that in one piece more or less and then on to finish college.
Work - Nearing the end of my 45+ year technology career and transitioning to something else I have always wanted to do. My goal is to own and operate a certified organic farm so I can produce food as it was intended by nature.
Marriage - I am in a 'relationship' with that same girl I dated back in high school and went to the prom with. One day soon we will fly down to the islands and marry each other like we should have done so many years ago. We have one son, four daughters and our three granddaughters at ages 5, 8 years and 13 years round out the family. Just learned there is one more grandchild on the way!
So where do we go from here...
Thinking back on school days I wish I had been more in touch with the world beyond school and friends, or ...Expand for more
reality as we commonly refer to it. I would have started my business many years sooner, maybe not joined the service and definitely not married so quickly. You live with the choices you make and focus on the good in life. Maryvale was a good experience and I leaned a lot there, about life and about people.
School
I wish I had it all to do over again - college and grad school right after HS in my next life.
College
Craven Community College, New Bern, NC
University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS
Workplace
I have owned my own companies (telecommunications, computer, construction) since 1995, and prior to that worked for the big technology companies like IBM, Xerox, EDS and so on. Currently developing a franchise model for a technology company to deploy throughout the East.
