Mary Alice's Story

I lived on a farm on the border of Wauconda and Barrington and it was a happy time.We had orchards and animals, critters and neighbors. They were the Keigers over accross from us, Howards behind us and Farmer Brown to the side and Old Rand Rd on the other. My friend Ted Siwi used to ride his bike out to our farm...Don't know what ever happend to him? I loved Wauconda Elementary and the town like none other. After that,... well...life took on a diffent meaning after my Father died. Wauconda has come to mean the place that every single remaining family member would confess was the best of time of all and best place we have ever been in..together. Can you handle the truth..?I struggled to even finish school.Technically I actually "dropped out"My Dad died beforehand and I ended up at "School Away from School"in Shreveport, Louisiana.I ended up dropping out...way out. Got my"GED" as a condition of probation.Long story. Then while in jail (another long story),awaiting sentenceing to prison I got a whole other education...His Name is Jesus! Then I ended up in Bible College and have Advanced degree in "Cross Cultural Missions along with "Practical Theology".Have served 13 years mostly in Central Asia, Middle East and more, mostlyinvolved in Humanitarian Aide & Relief& Develpoment projects as well as educational and business. I've been blessed w...Expand for more
ith amazing travels and adventures with incredible people. The chance to learn from the ones I've traveled with AND to!The many diverse and varied cultures I've had the extreme honor of coming in contact with... learning more about the beauty of diversity of some very wonderful peoples. Now I am taking care of an elderly mother and a dyin brother.I have no idea why I am telling you this especially since I will cancell my 7 day free tial and most likely never be back in this spot a gain. I didn't do the whole cap and gown thing. I respect it...actually I respect the "process more than the "hows" and "wheres". I value the possiblities and opportunities to learn. The desire to be more and improve and love everyday. So hooraw for you if you made it to the end. And horray for you if you found another way to learn and grow and make it your own way to the ....end. Random memoies...swimming at Bangs lake, cherry cokes at the Rexall Drug store, Brother Don's "chalk talks" at church. Chasing the Howard kids around their pond...and Mrs Howard's cooking.(tacos and hot dogs stuffed with cheese) working th conscesion stand at the baseball games. The high schoolers protesting Vietnam. Raiding Farmer Brown's berry patches...watching the beavers build their dams near are farm. Throwing snowballs off the bridge at passing cars at Old Rand Road...sorry.
