Mary Ann's Story
Life
I married my husband, Roger, in 1972. Several years later we built a solar heated home in a rural area not far from where we both grew up. We have a son who is married & a daughter in college. Over the years we have dabbled in farmlike activites--raising chickens, pigs, a goat, geese and honey bees. The only ones we now do are a few chickens & the bees, but we've always had a huge organic garden. I preserve & freeze alot of our food. I have won ribbons for my canning & a trophy for my pasta sauce. I love to cook--and to eat! We've taken some interesting vacations--the most unusual one to Iceland, which I highly recommend. I still love rock 'n roll--music got me through high school. Well, the kids are grown so who knows what comes next for us? Our daughter graduated college in May of 2007 and got married in September of that year, so last year was all about wedding planning. It went off w/o a hitch and we're very, very happy w/our new son, just as we were in 2002 when our son married & we gained a daughter. So I have an empty nest--now what? I'll tell you what--time for ME! I do things at the drop of a hat--dinner or movie w/friends, shopping, re...Expand for more
ading--whatever. No more rushing around to be anywhere at or by a certain time. Don't feel like cooking supper? I don't then. This is awesome. I've also taken up tribal fusion belly dancing. Yes, belly dancing. Did it in the early '70's, but that was the traditional kind. This is dance loosely based on that, but includes dance from other countries. I've danced to everything from traditional music, oldies and Rob Zombie. The clothing is different, too--not so I Dream of Jeannie. More edgy, goth even. I'm building my wardrobe right now. It's all very empowering and in line w/my quirky personality. I've also seen my first country concert this year, something I said I'd never do. Went w/Michele (Bilous) Hosbach & must say I enjoyed it. Michele and I have known each other since we were five & have recently renewed our friendship and are doing things together. Went to the PA Farm Show a while back just to go. Anyway, also saw Springsteen again this summer and am going to see him in OH Easter weekend w/our daughter & son-in-law. Still love my concerts and am always on the lookout to go. So here's my update as of the beginning of 2008. See you at the 40th Reunion!!
