Mary Anne's Story
After highschool, I attended Texas Tech. Summers and holidays I worked for Mobil Oil in Midland, and had a great extended family there who encouraged me greatly, and welcomed me back each year. At the end of my senior year I got married and moved to NJ (what was I thinking!?!). I lived in NJ for 7 months, and then we were transferred to PA (much better!) My son, David, was born in Reading. He attended Penn State and the University of Maine. He is married, living in Poland with his wife and 3 sons, and working for IBM as an electrical engineer.
My daughter, Laura, was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, graduated from Misericordia College, and then studied at Crozier Hospital in Philadelphia. She is also married and lives outside of Scranton PA. She works as an untrasound tech, and is my very best friend.
I was married for 27 years and then divorced. I moved to Keene, NH and have just fallen in love with New England. Winters are not so hot, but this NH, VT area is just beautiful. I am a pretty bad skier, but do enjoy trying! I manage a growing dental practice which keeps me very busy. I have a wonderful, if unruly, staff and enjoy my work for the most part.
I enjoy outdoors activities, kayaking, walking, fishing and tennis. I played tennis competitively for about 10 years, but am just a recreational player now. I also love quilting, and have just started making and designing jewelry which is great fun.
My constant companion is a tuxedo cat, Snoopy, whom I adore. He is my first cat, after having dogs (and even an orphaned squirrel once)all my life. He just makes me laugh and keeps me from taking myself too seriously!
I have been fortunate to have traveled a bit, and feel very lucky to be in good health. Boy, this sounds so boring, but actually i...Expand for more
t's been a good ride so far, and I am looking forward to whatever lies ahead.
I am hoping to find some of my old friends with this site and see what they have been up to. Had to dig out my Texas Tech sweatshirt a couple of weeks ago and then just couldn't bear to finish watching that awful game with Oklahoma. Next year???
I haven't been back to Texas for many years since my sister moved to Illinois. Maybe one of these days.......
11.21.09 My daughter is pregnant-yeah! Looks like it will be a boy, and I can hardly wait. David has 3 sons now, but I don't get to see them very often, so this will be my first chance to be a real "hands on" grandma!
7/6/11 Mason Henry is already a year old, and Laura is expecting a little girl in November. I can hardly wait!! Being a grandma is the best.
I have been busy with my jewelry designing, and have been accepted into a juried coop shop nearby. I am having a lot of fun meeting and getting to know all the different artists in the area. My real job is seriously getting in my way at this point!! Oh well.
It is finally summer here after a hard winter. It is so great to get outdoors and on the water after being cooped up for so long. Hope to get to Maine and the ocean in the next few weeks. It is one of my favorite places, and I can't wait to smell the salt air.
9/24/11- I have been accepted into another artisan shop, this one in Vermont. This is great fun, but exhausting. Have to get a website after the holidays--no time now.
So much has happened since I last posted in 2011. My daughter now has three children,a boy and two little girls. They are very special. My son has four boys now, and is still living in Poland. I'm still working on my jewelry, and work part time for an oral surgeon here in Keene.
