Mary's Story

Life After 25 yrs of living in and around Chattanooga, TN, I now live back in the Milwaukee area again, with my 6 yr old Boston Terrier, Cassie. Before her, I always had big dogs and raised a couple of wolves in my home as well...which explains part of my screen name. I have been divorced for well over 30 yrs and have 4 grown children ... one deceased ... and two grown grandsons in the Scranton, PA area. I no longer work and am very involved in dog rescue and transport. I also have an Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems and can build a system from scratch, which I enjoy tremendously when nothing goes wrong. <grin> I have written a book, available for order at Barnes and Noble since Spring of 2005. It's title is "An Early American Woman Warrior" by Garet Brown (my pen name and the name everyone knows me by now for the past 14 yrs) ANNOUNCING THE RELEASE OF "An Early American Woman Warrior" (And the Woman Who Loved Her) By: Garet Brown Hand Talker, a wild and independent Indian girl grows up with her foster sister, the beautiful White Bird, determined become a true woman warrior. on to it. The Wolf Spirit leads them both on their journey toward acceptance and their exciting destiny, not only as lovers, but also as adventurers and interpreters for the white man. This is a story of icy determination, great and unremitting love, and the unique spiritual guidance of the wolf spirit. Highly recommended for those struggling with their own sexual identities or anyone interested in Indian acceptance of gays long ago. Adult content. Order it at Barnes and Noble. The publishers are PublishAmerica Footnote: Although white history books and religious influences have tried to hide the fact, woman warriors were once happily accepted and well known in the oral stories passed down by the Native Americans and fought and married both men and women depending on their own individual sexuality as some were heterosexuals. Some were even guides and interpreters of great demand among the white man. Recent news articles have now revealed a long-known fact among the Indians … Custer was killed by a woman. They have feared to go so far as to declare her a woman warrior, however. It is doubtful we will ever know if she was or wasn’t one. Adult reading and not for young children nor homophobic individuals. However, please note, this is based on stories of the total honest history of the Indian contributions to America.
