Mary's Story

Life Well, let's see. After South Eugene I went immediately (5 days after we graduated) to Lane Community for the summer to prove to Oregon State that I was smart enough to attend their school (my parents wanted me too). I started at Oregon State that fall, started dating Barry Davis again (he was there too), joined his fraternity (Pi Kappa Alpha - Pikes) as a "Little Sister" (party girl) and it was all doWN hill from there. I still have the letter from the Dean of the business school telling me at the end of my Freshman year to "go away". Yes, I had drank (drunk?) my way out of college. Had it not been for Barry taking me aside one night at the frat house and telling me that I was heading down a "bad path" I might not be here to tell you about my life today (thank you Barry!!!) Anyway, I admitted my stupidity to my parents and went home to Eugene. I signed back up at Lane Community, put away the drinking & dancing and brought my gpa back up. I was also by now working at Sears (when it was still downtown). I dropped out of Lane after my sophmore year to work full-time. I worked there from 1978 to 1981 when I moved to Portland, OR to take an accounting job at KGW-am & Kink-fm radio. It was at the radio station that I met my wonderful husband. He was a DJ on the AM station. He's been a DJ in Portland since he was 17 (after graduating from David Douglas High). It only took me two years to get a date. He left KGW in 1983; which made it much harder to stock him (LOL!). No, I didn't stock him... too much. What can I say. I heard the voice of God tell me that Brayn was the man He wanted me to marry. I wasn't a Chrisitan at the time but I knew I wanted to marry a strong Christian man. He was raised in a house where divorce was not an option (luckly for me). Bryan was 29 when we married and I 25. The first 5 years were a lot for him to handle. I was a mess... as any of you poor guys who ever had the misfortune to get trapped in my snare (as Mr. Fletcher like to call it) found out. I had been sexually molested while in grade school (around 5th grade) and it had really messed me up emotionally (that explains a lot... doesn't it). Anyway, my husband stood by me and at the age of 30 got me into a counselor.... I'm much better know. We have have been blessed with 3 kids (1 boy & 2 girls) Jordan (my son) is 18 and just graduated. He's 6'3", hazel eyes and a beautiful smile. He's starting at UTI on 8/27/07 to become a master technician... his dream is to someday own a Mercedes Benz or BMW dealership. He's working as a porter at a Cadillac/Hummer dealership and having a blast. McKenzie (my daugther) is 15. She's 5'6", brown eyes. She's looks like Bryan's family. She's a sophmore this year. She's amazingly artistic... a self taught pianist (plays by ear), and graphic artist (web design & photoshop). Madison (my younger daughter) is 10. Up to my shoulders, blonde & blue eyed. She's in 5th grade. She loves fashion, Barbies & babies. She's also very artistic and the scholar of the family. And then there's my baby Riley. He's our 5 year old brittany spaniel. He's adorable. Cuddly & doesn't bark... but sheds like crazy! Scamper (my rat dog) and Tina (my samoy) passed away while I was pregnant with Jordan. That was hard. I got them as babies when in high school. Well, life is great. I'm a total Jesus Freak, love teaching Sunday School, love my husband and kids. My husband is an amazing cook... did I mention I'm fat? Yes, but so is my hubby so it's all good... unless we don't live long enough to see grandkids (that would be sad). Wow, I bet you forgot what a chatty cathy I was. My father (God rest his s...Expand for more
oul) always said I was vacinated with a phonograph needle! Anyway... write to me. I'd love to hear what you've been doing! Mary (Clark) Green "Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life" Proverbs 4:23 Workplace I've been a bookkeeper forever. I have to get a new job every 2 years with all the moving we do. I currently am working a/p for a long term care facility for sub-acute children located in Loma Lina, CA. My husband took a job at KSGN Radio in Redlands, CA (thats what brought us here). You can listen to him on-line from 3p to 7p (Bryan O'Neal is his on-air name). I decided early on that I didn't like doing collections (did it for the first 5 years while at KGW/KINK Radio) and decided it brought out my "dark side". To this day I really don't enjoy talking on the phone... so email me. I worked at Atwater's Restaurant for the last 2 years it was open (July 1998-Mar 2000). It was on the 31st floor of the US Bank Bldg in Portland, OR. The elevators were a great place to run into old friends (Kevin Robertson, Dan Holden, George Glass & Robert Strong). I worked at K-Love & Air-1 Radio from Oct 2002-Jun 2005. Then we moved to Spokane, WA (burr, cold!!!). Live there June 2005-July 2006(husband hated his job so we moved on!). I loved mine. Worked at Kauffman & Associates. We were the liason between the Dept of Ed and the tribal nations throughout the US (very cool!). No matter how many times I move (and I'm up to 18 moves since I left for college to my most recent relocation to Sothern Calif) and most of it was before I got married. My husbands radio career keeps us moving (...my kids refer to themselves as Broadcast Brats!). So check in from year to year and see where we live next. On the upside we've all gotten really good at packing! I actually enjoy the moving around. I hope that someday we can buy a motorhome and just travel the country while Bryan (my husband)takes his photographs. He's currently studying under Scott Roberts (a famous wedding photographer). Wow...did I stray from the "workplace" theme or what... sorry :( So, I do accounts payable and payroll. I wish I would have taken accounting in high school. I would have found my "niche" a lot sooner. ok, well I don't think I can get much more boring... For the last 10 years I've been doing accounts payable & payroll. My love is Excel spreadsheets for all the CFO's I've worked with. I love doing spreadsheets!! But my favorite job is teaching Sunday School. It gives me a chance to act & sing (because we all know I din't have what it took to make it to Broadway). But the kids think I'm funny and they like coming to my class and I love playing with them while teaching them how much Jesus loves them. What a privledge! Military First of all may I say "thank you" to all of you who have served or have children serving right now. It is such a privlge to live in the USA and that is only made possible by the sacrafice of those who serve us and keep us FREE! God bless you all!!! I took the entrance exams for the Marine Corp and sadly enough my math scores were too low! I needed Mr. Herr by my side to make it through any math test (God bless that man!) But it worked out well because my boyfriend at the time (Tom Hargraves) was in the marines and stationed on Guam and said the Marines was no place for a girl to be. I still feel like I missed out in being able to serve my country. After all, my Dad had me in training for the military all my life. But my Mom was so determined to put me in business school. It turned out great.. after watching "Saving Private Ryan" I realized I probably couldn't have handled it.
