Life
Moved to Maple Hts. OH at age 5, 1st kindergarten semester at Mt. Pleasant Elm., 117th St., Cleveland OH. Attended Granger Rd. Elm., Stafford Elm., East Jr. High, and Maple Hts HS, Class of '65. Lived in northeast Michigan from '69-'86. I have 4 children (Laurie Lawlor-Clark, Oscoda Michigan, Class of '89; Michelle Lawlor-Gora, Genesee High School,(age 33) George Lawlor, Oscoda Class of 91, & Brian Lawlor, Santa Maria CA Class of '96 ).7 grandchildren (age 2 - 10). Saginaw Valley State grad. 1985; B.A.'s in Psychology and Sociology. Lived in Glendora CA and Santa Maria CA '87- 2002; graduate, Chapman Univ,'99. MA Behavioral Sciences, Marriage, Family, Therapist, Catholic Charities, Santa Maria CA. I love & miss friends from Maple Hts. Have many adventure stories to share; lived in the woods of northern Michigan, Darby MT, hunting, shooting bow and arrows, fishing, camping; and using a chain saw to cut wood. Spent days on the beaches of Calf. Crystal Cove, Pismo Beach, Avila, etc. Would love to hear from you! Now living in Frazier Park CA. Read messages posted for Maple Hts Class of '65 reunion. School
I remember the names of most teachers, friends, neighbors, classmates, and co-workers over the years. I loved school and work. My favorite subjects: English, Spanish, Music, Sports, and Behavioral Sciences. I studied Theology, Doctirne, Dogma, and teaching methods in the Cleveland Arch Diocese and Gaylord Diocese,in northern Michigan. Taught religious education for 7 years; one year of 4th grade in 1969 at St. Monica's, and grades 4th-6th at Sacred Heart in Oscoda, Michigan. Family, friends, neighbors, classmates, and co-workers are important to my life! OK VIP's, send messages! Thanks for the times we shared! Hope to hear those who remember the good ole' days, (22 years in Ohio, 17 years in Michigan, 15 years in southern and central coast of California, and months in the Rockies of Montana). land Ohio, from 1965-69. I moved to Michigan and attended Saginaw Valley State, Wurtsmith Airforce Base and one semester on the main campus,(graduated 1985). Attended Graduate school at Chapman Univ., Vandenberg Airforce Base, Lompoc CA. Graduated 1999 with a Masters of Arts in Behavioral Sciences.I interned with Catholic Cahrities as a Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist for 5 years and moved back to Michigan. Workplace
I started babysitting(age 7),walking babies on Raymond Street. Had "real" babysitting jobs until I was 15, then started working at Topps, (Northfield Rd.,Doughnut concession, part-time),in the Southgate Shopping Center. After graduation, in '65, I worked at Piezoelectronics on Forbes Rd., in Bedford, (manufacturing quartz crystals,and quality control), until 1968. From '68-'69, I worked in downtown Cleveland, (Carnegie Ave.), for National Car rental. I moved from Ohio to Michigan in '69, after getting married. Over a 17 year span in Michigan, I was a sub Mail Carrier, Chiropractic Assistant, Retail Accountant for the Pendleton Shops, Oscoda Area Schools; tutored reading, cafeteria, library, secretary, teacher's aide, and sub teaching. Developed businesses in licensed day care, resort management, (Mystery Ridge, Oscoda, MI), and office machines, (Oscoda Typewriter). Worked as Career Counselor/Job Developer for Region 7B Employment and Training under CETA and JTPA for Iosco amd Arenac Counties until '86. Worked at ITT Educational Services as a Field Representative, (Michigan,) and Inside Representative at the W. Covina, CA school until 1991. Started graduate school l993, (Chapman Univ.- Vandenberg AFB),and graduated in '99. Interned for Catholic Charities,(Santa Maria, CA) as a Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist. Also worked at Wurtsmith Airforce Base, MI as Assistant Registrar in the education office, and Teleteaching, in classes on the SAC base in Oscoda, (1980-1986).
Military
I was never in the military formally. I did work in the education dept. on Vandenberg AFB in northern Michigan, and later received my masters degree from attending graduate school at Vandenberg AFB in Lompoc, CA.
