Mary Ellen's Story
Life
I would be interested in hearing from those ladies who attended St. Paul School on Washington & Bronson (?) before entering Catholic Girls. I left in the fifth grade, attended public school then returned to parochial school for Freshman year 1951. I did not graduate but certainly loved seeing my old classmates again and I would very much like to get in touch with them such as Rose Kavanaugh or Pat Methany. I have outlived two husbands, I have three children, five grandchildren and one great grandson and am currently single.
I was a native Californian until May 2004 when I moved to MS after my husband died. Many of my friends have moved to various states so the old neighborhood and daily friendships are gone. When asked why I moved here the answer is simple - MONEY. I could no longer afford the high cost of living in SoCal and relocating here is another story in itself. ing is very reasonable and NO, I did not lose my house in Katrina - thank God! It is wonderful to attend govt meetings such as the City Council and have the opening prayer to Jesus Christ - what a novelty today.
I thought I would retire here after being a caregiver for 50 plus years but that has yet to happen. Houses here were so inexpensive I couldn't resist buying four houses which certainly kept me busy with maintenance. Most of that is behind me now after three years. One house was sold, a couple from Calif. rent one and my eldest daughter just moved from Sacramento and is renting the other after six months of upgrades and repairs. She too was forced out of Calif unable to cover the cost to live there. It is wonderful to have at least one of my children nearby and we have been enjoying each others company. I would very much enjoy hearing from any classmate and when I learn how to post some pictures I will.
