Mary's Story

I went to a Junior Business College right after H.S., then joined the Army for 3 years. Returned home, worked for Spalding Company, then as an office manager for a law firm. I met and married my husband of 20 years now, and have two wonderful kids. (Connor, 19, and Mackenzie 14!) I was a Store Manager of two video stores in our town and since Sept. 2008, I have been working in the school office of our Middle School. School I went to Marion Court Junior College of Business in Swampscott, MA. (Near Salem) I went for 2 years while living in an apartment in town. In 1985, I received my Associates Degree in Applied Science. I majored in the Executive Secretarial field. Had a great time, even though it WAS an all girls college. Not anymore, though! s in. I did basic training in Ft. Dix, NJ. (Funny part is that is where I was born. The Fort Dix Army Hospital. Believe me, the Drills had a lot of fun with that one.) Next, I went on to tech. school in Ft. Gordon, Georgia. From there I received my first active duty assignment, in of all places, Korea! I couldn't believe it! But it turned out to be pretty cool. After a year, I was pleased to get my choice assignment of the Pentagon. I was assigned to Ft. Myers, Virginia and worked a cool 9-5 Mon. - Fri.- job in the head offices of the Telecommunications Center. I finished my military career there and honorably discharged in 1989. It was a great experience. I guess we are a military family. My Dad was in the Navy, Marc did time in the Airforce, and as we speak, Matthew was in the Airforce and as they were cutting back, he transferred to the Army and is currently in Iraq.
