Mary's Story
I hope I am correct to say we were the 2nd graduating class from the new Westmont High School in 1966. It was shiny new and we were creating and establishing the traditions that may or may not have continued. I worked on The Warriors Shield - isn't that the name of the newspaper? and the yearbook Poniard. [that name was imposed on us by the administration if I remember correctly] Oh how I remember the Sloppy Joe sandwiches and large peanut butter cookies from the snack shack for many lunches. Before I can't remember anything at all anymore, I thought I'd dabble in this walk down memory lane now that I am retired. I've lived in South Australia since 1969 yet have been able to travel somewhat. I look forward to saying hello to anyone who cares to say Hi. I am fortunate to have kept in touch with several friends from my neighbourhood: Carole, Nancy, Jan, Lynn, and Martha. We actually had lunch together in March 2014!
I am the mother of 3 sons and 3 step-daughters, grandmother to 24, hence the memory problems. I still feel I lived in paradise when I grew up in the slums of Saratoga and now live in paradise here in Christies Beach. I have been So Lucky, so far.
Just love seeing these familiar names. Wish I could have a look at one of the yearbo...Expand for more
oks of our vintage - I worked on them! My copies rotted in the shed in the back garden 20 years ago. I will need prompting as to who you are and how we knew each other.
I worked in community services managing a citizens advice centre that has now been reduced to a unpersoned data base. Also worked with books a lot as well; first in an academic bookstore, last, in a local library.
One of my constants has been my continuing membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (you know it as the Mormons) which gives my life depth and meaning and and lot of things to do. It keeps me busy. My family also share this lifestyle. Lately I am actively doing family history research from home. I have 3 grandchildren who are 16 - just the age we were then! (I have 3 sets of twin grandchildren, not my doing)
Can anyone explain how this frustrating website works? I just cannot navigate it to get to any relevant part about people I do remember! And, by the way, is some incredible soul organising a 50th reunion for our Tribe of 66? Just curious as I am way too far away to pop in! My current name is Williams and we are in the phone book so look us up and say Hello!
ps We are planning to attend the Reunion in Sept 2016. c u there? I hope!!
