Mary's Story
Life
After high school I attended NMSU and recieved a BS in biology in 1978. After graduation, I moved up to Albuquerque. I worked in a lab for 3 years and worked in New Jersey for a little while. In 1983 I went back to school for a degree in electrical engineering. Six long, hard years later I recieved my BSEE in 1989 from NMSU. I then worked as a data reviewer and data analyst for the country's largest radio-chemistry lab and enjoying it most of the time.
My daughter, Christine who is the joy of my life., was born 1987. Because of her, I became involved in the Alb. school system big time. I was a GED instructor for YDI in Albuquerque I recieved my MA in education in May 2006, the same year my daughter graduated high school. I am now teaching 14 -20 year old students who had dropped out and have decided to return for their GED.
June 20, 2007 I took part in a Fulbright-Hayes seminar in Russia and Poland. It was an amazing opportunity.
I am now a math & science teacher at ACE High School. I am teaching in the evening re-integration program. I just started on Oct 18. The school is based on the pricipal of Project Based Learning where the students learn by doing various projects. We teach construction here, so I am learning also.
I am now teaching science to incarcerated youth in Albuquerque and a part-time math instructor at CNM.
