Mary Lee's Story
Life
I have two children and FIVE grandchildren. I am an RN and have worked most of my adult life. I am now retired and loving it--lots of time to do the things I didn't get done before. I still live in SJ. I am looking forward to hearing from some of you!
College
After HS I attended San Jose State with quite a few Camden grads, including Chris Ocken, Gail Odom, Nancy Goetz, Karen Buckner, Dennis Gray, and others. I was in the Nursing program for that time and the first semester of '66-67, Karen, Nancy, Chris and I were roomates. That was a great time. I left SJS the following semester and applied to San Jose City College to accellerate my education.
I graduated in 1970 with an AA in Registered Nursing and went to work. At that time I was married with a daughter who was 2 years old. In 1989 I returned to school to finish my BS at University of San Francisco-Organizational Behavior.
Workplace
My first job as an RN was at Los Gatos Community hospital from 1970 to 1971, when we moved...Expand for more
to Portland, Oregon and I worked for five years at Bess Kaiser Hospital there. I returned to SJ in 1976 and transferred to Kaiser Santa Clara hospital as a supervisor. Simultaneously, I was getting a divorce. I had a daughter and a son by that time. I went to work at Alexian Brothers hospital for a year and then returned to Kaiser Santa Clara for six months and transferred to the clinic where I worked on the floors and doing advice for 5 years. In 1983 I transferred to the new Kaiser Milpitas facility where I did advice in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Ob-Gyn until 1998. I became a manager at that time where I remained until 2005 and retired with 34 years of service.
I worked as the Executive Director of SarahCare of Campbell for 6 months in 2006/07.
Currently, I am happily retired and loving it. I have a yard that has never looked so good, two Papillon dogs who are my shadows. I am sewing, decorating and available to my grandchildren for 'taxi' service as needed.
