Mary Lynn's Story

Life After college, I married Richard MacGillivray in 1969 and raised three children in North Miami while teaching 30 years in Dade County Schools. In 1991, Richard and I had an amicable divorce (He moved above the Arctic Circle), and I enjoyed the single life for 10 years - lots of fun! In 1998, I retired from Dade County Schools and bought a 15 room house in the mountains of Franklin, North Carolina. I began my second teaching career in Franklin and taught for 15 more years. I became a National Board Certified Teacher and mentored other teachers going through the process. I later became an exchange teacher in Naruto, Japan, and met my soul mate, Alan Duncan. We married in 2001.. I retired from teaching (for the second time) in June of 2013, and Alan retired soon after. In September of 2014, I was asked to be an English t...Expand for more
utor for Macon Early College. I worked with students grades 9 - 12 who were taking college courses concurrently with their high school courses..... until my third retirement in December of 2016. My children now live in Georgia (2 grandchildren), Texas (3 children), and Oklahoma (5 grandchildren). In March of 2017, Alan and I moved to a new home on Lake Texoma at the very bottom of Oklahoma with a view of Texas across the Red River. Alan and I have a great life boating, traveling and enjoying our children and grandchildren together. I have truly been blessed. I had this picture in my classroom for years. It really helped with discipline!
The peaceful end to a beautiful day.
Wow, my diet will finally pay off!
New wreath for my door!
This is definitely true.
My Valentine steer. 😍
But really because of my dance moves and the fact that Alan can hold me up in the air when we are in the lake. 💃🏼

My neighbor Linda took this picture of the beautiful Oklahoma sunset behind our house.
I am so excited that my oldest grandchild, Austin, 23, has moved back to Oklahoma from Florida!! He is the one holding the garter. His younger brother Ryder is on the right.
My daughter and 12 year old granddaughter, Larkin. They look more like twins than Larkin and her real twin.
So is it time to put away my summer shoes and bring out the fall and winter shoes? Alan has other suggestions, but he collects hats and I collect shoes.
What’s this? National Dog Day? But we thought EVERY day was dog day!
