Mary's Story

Updated 3/24/20 Life has been interesting since graduation. I pursued my love of horses and horse showing almost immediately after graduating. Came back to reality after being on the road, living in Florida, New York and New Jersey for several years (many of you may remember that my family had Hunter/Jumper show horses, as well as race horses??) Returned to Michigan in the early 80's and got a REAL job. Worked in the Default Servicing area of the mortgage industry for over 20 years. I pursued my love of music by singing 4-part harmony, barbershop style, with Sweet Adelines (along with Mary Beth Beamish). I took a hiatus from singing for about 15 years and have recently returned to it. My parents bought a 25 acre farm in Oxford, MI in November 1987, which was sold after both of my parents died within a year of ...Expand for more
each other - dad in 1999 and mom in 2000. What a tragedy for the five of us. I returned to college as a non-traditional student in 1999, earning my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I moved to Charlotte, NC, as I couldn't find a teaching job in Michigan after graduating in December 2006. I taught first, second, and third grade until 2017, when I retired, and then moved to Las Vegas. NV where I continue to teach. Been here almost 3 years now..... I still have my insanely strong love of horses - they are back in Michigan with Libby while I pine for them from Vegas. I LOVED living in North Carolina. I'm convinced that I was supposed to be born a southern girl. When I retire from teaching in Las Vegas I will move back to NC. I'm on FACEBOOK. Look me up if the thought crosses your mind...........
