Mary's Story

Have lived in Vermont since 1974. Have two grown children and two almost grown grandchildren. Live on 6.5 acres in a 200 year old house. Love flower gardening, reading, traveling and playing with my dogs. Support my grandson and his football team, "Go Marauders". My grandaughter plays the violin and loves soccer. I have been a radiolgic technologist since 1989 and love my job. However my husband and I are looking forward to retirement and just might return to Massachusetts and live on the Cape. Anybody from the Class of 66 living on the Cape? My husband and I have retired from our respective careers, he from Dartmouth College in 2009 and me from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in 2011. Retirement was very strange for me after working full-time for my entire adult life. We still live in our 200+ year old house in Vermont. We now have plenty of time to garden. I do the flowers and he does the veggies. I have restarted canning as the veggies reach harvesting. I make a killer piccalilli and pickles. I also joined a group of local women in a fiber arts group to knit and crochet. I crochet American Girl, one of a kind outfits, that are sold locally at an arts studio. I am also involved with a group at a church in the next town making qu...Expand for more
ilts for their disaster relief program. These quilts are shipped overseas to areas that have experienced a major disaster whether natural or manmade, such as war. We still have a few dogs, two of which are getting quite elderly. I would like to get down to one dog but my husband wants to replace his bird dog that we had to put down last winter. My daughter is an RN at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and has a grown son (23) and a daughter in her junior year of high school. My son lives in NYC and is in the music business, managing writers and producers. Lenny never married and has no children. He has a current serious girlfriend but no plans to make it legal or start a family, so I guess two grandchildren are all I am getting. I guess I will have to wait for the great grandchildren. It looks as though we will continue to live in Vermont and only vacation on the Cape in the summer and try to do cruises in the winter. We have a 20' pontoon boat that we trailer to the Conneticut River about 1 mile away from our home or to our local lake. It's a great way to spend a hot summer day with family and friends cruising the water or pulling the grandkids and their friends on a tube. Does anyone from the class of 66 live in The Upper Valley area of Vt and NH?
