Mary's Story
Life
Mary's Bio: After graduating high school, I went to school to become a dental assistant. Didn't like that much, so I went to work for Pacific Bell as a directory assistance operator. I put my then husband through college, got pregnant with my first child in 1971 and my second in 1974. Was a stay-at-home mom until the kids were in school and then started working part-time. I worked as a teacher's assistant at Hennessey Elementary School in Grass Valley and an Optometric Assistant. I ran for city council member in 1989 (Grass Valley) and was elected. I then ran for a second term and was re-elected. Carl and I divorced in 1990 and I remarried in 1993 to Terry Knox. We live in Orangevale, CA, near Sacramento. firm and an office manager for a graphic design firm. I was an administrative assistant for a dental supply company for several years too! I am now "retired". My husband has 6 children and 14 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren! (he's not that old...just started early) Our children are a rescue terrier named Abbey and a maltipoo named Bella. They keep us busy & offer hours of entertainment! My "real" children are Crystal, 50, who is a CPA, teaches accounting at Sac State & UC Davis & is a partner in a Sacramento CPA firm, and Joshua, 47, who works for the California State Dept of Corrections. Josh & his wife, Shanay have given me three beautiful grandchildren, Maya 15, Mason 13, and Malani, who is 8. Would love to hear from any of you that care to stay in touch. I think of old classmates often, and wonder how they are!
