Mary's Story
Life
After our MHS graduation in 1971, I received my Bachelor of Music
Education degree from Lowell State College in 1975. I have been a music teacher on Nantucket Island since 1975. I retired in June, 2010 with 35 years of sharing my love of music with the children of Nantucket.
I received a Masters of Education with a concentration in Special Education from American International College in 1981. With both a music and special ed background I have been able to do some music therapy with my "special" kids.
I have concentrated in a general music program called Orff Schulwerk, received several certificates and attended the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria.

ive Board of the New England Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association for eleven years ending with two years as President and served at the national level on the Advisory Board of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
I taught after school music activities including chorus, DRUM Club, piano, musicals, clACK (the Nantucket version of STOMP, our airport ID is ACK), and dance.
I married Ray Moores on June 24, 1989. He lived on Nantucket and was originally from Worcester.
We have no children but we do have a Peke-a-poo dog who has stolen our hearts. She is small enough for our travels back to Medfield where my parents and older sister still live.
