Mary's Story
Life
Been in & out of the AK a few times since high school. Currently living back up here in the Mat-Su Valley. I have two of the most awesome kids in the world. My daughter is 18 and is attending University of AK Anchorage. She's ready to take on the world. My son is 8 and plays hockey. He's been a ladies' man since he was 6 months old. Girls flock to him. He already has a girlfriend but he can never remember her name.
School
Went to West Valley from '81/'82 thru '83/'84 & transferred to Lathrop my senior yr.
Would I do high school all over again?? Are you nuts? Hahaha....no way! I still have a recurring nightmare that I'm back in high school, but I'm an adult & I can't figure out what I'm doing there. I'm walking through the halls trying to explain to the teachers...Expand for more
that I have a college education and I really shouldn't have to be here. Then I can't remember my locker combination.
College
Holy smokes...I was a single mom when I went back to college so it's all kind of a blur. Still don't remember how we made it through, but I do remember some guy on a big stage giving me a diploma, so I guess I did it somehow.
Workplace
Started out as a pharmacy technician at good ol' Pay 'N' Save in Anchorage....went on to pharmacy school eventually & have worked in pretty much every aspect of pharmacy since that time. Worked hospital, chain, independent, long term care, consulting, and now I'm the pharmacist-in-charge at a compounding pharmacy. It's the coolest job I've ever had & there are new challenges every day....helps keep the synapses firing
