Mary's Story
Okay all. I haven't lived in the desert since I graduated from the UA in 1975. I keep moving further north and east. First to Williams, AZ then to Denver, CO where I met my husband and had three kids (girl, boy, girl), again east across the wide old Mississippi and on up to Pittsburgh, PA. Two years ago, I found my dream job with the US Forest Service (landscape architect for the technical services team-region 9) in Rutland, Vt. ever cared to be. I miss the heat (after the cold winter of '08) and the unique desert vegetation, and most of all Tucson.
I love to read and write (fiction and personal essays), take care of my critters (dogs, cats--haven't had a horse since my son was born 21 years ago), my kids and my husband--not necessarily in that order, create gardens and landscapes using native plant materials, and renovate and redecorate my house.
When do I find the time? I don't sleep. Much.
Life is good but could be better.
