Mary's Story
I'm the creator of Mary Ivers' Keyboard Connection (TM) which includes a collection of piano/keyboard books that will soon be for sale at my Keyboard Connection Web site. I love making music and multimedia - especially digital photography; gardening; walking; writing; reading; travelling a bit; and watching movies and enjoying fine cuisine with family and friends. I had my first job at the age of 13 - providing the piano and vocal music for a wedding. That was the beginning of a lifetime career of singing, providing piano music and teaching piano lessons. I am married, with children and grandchildren, and I was raised in Chicago, Illinois.
Were you a member of ORKUT? I had a community at ORKUT which was called, "Digital Photography Forum" and at it's peak there were more than 35,000 members in this community. Google decided to stop sponsoring the ORKUT community of forums in 2014. Very sad indeed.... It was a great gathering place!
I'm passionate about piano technology, making music, photography, clean laundry, family and friends. I am also passionate about helping my husband Jim, learn how to live life as a blind man. Jim was run over by a car on December 9, 2005, while he was shovelling snow in our driveway. He lived in the critical care unit of Northwestern Memorial Hospital for 3 weeks, before being transferred to the Rehabilitation Institute ...Expand for more
of Chicago, for the next 5 weeks. Now, he is at home, continuing his rehab.
Jim broke both legs, and one knee. He also broke his face and back, and tore all of the ligaments from his spine. The worst injuries involved traumatic brain injury - six shearings of his brain, multiple sub-arachnoid brain hemorrages, and later, total loss of his eye sight, when his optic nerves died. This is my husband, and what else do I do that would matter more than helping my husband to come back to this world, in every sense?
My main sport is walking (Is this a sport?), and I spend plenty of time gardening, shopping, fine dining, taking pictures, making music, arranging music for my Keyboard Connection (TM) program, working on my Web sites, caring for our two grandaughters while their parents are at work, and spending time with friends and family. Number one in my life is my family! It used to be, that I was not satisfied unless I had put at least one good meal on the table for them, and washed and dried at least one load of laundry each day. Now, my world revolves around my husband and grandaughters. I truly believe that there will be more miracles, and that my husband will one day beat all medical odds, and see again.
Today my husband and I take care of our two precious granddaughters, every weekday while their parents are at work. Nothing can make our days better!
