Matt's Story
Life
Many things have happened since High School. I had planned to make a career of the Navy but I was young and stupid and ended up with a medical discharge. After that, I worked on a horse farm in CT for a year. Then I came home and worked in a couple of lumber yards, worked as a mechanic, ran a vending route, and worked for Autozone. I made some mistakes along the way but I've learned from them. Hey, if you don't do things the wrong way, how will you know which way is right? After leaving Autozone, I got into computer repair and that's where I really found my skills work best. I'm slowly working toward my degree. As of 2005, my major is Electric Engineering Technologies. I got married in 1993. My wife and I live in Eads where we're raising our 2 boys. My youngest was born when we were planning our 10 year reunion. I'm very much a political conservitive and I'm well on my way to being a full fledged curmudgeon. I have MANY hobbies now. Genealogy is one of them. I have my own genealogy web site. Search the internet for FUMICH and you'll find it. Check it out. I'm also into antique tube radios and classic cars. The biggest change in me since high school is that I have more confidence in myself. I had a lot of bottled up anger when I was in school because I though the "In Croud" looked down on me. Many of them did but I don't care now. I didn't go to the prom and I doubt anyone noticed. That's the kind of thing that made me dislike school so much. Looking back, what I value the...Expand for more
most from school are the teachers that knew I had potentioal and tried to tell me. I was the epitome of sophomoric behavior. I owe a big appology to my teachers for not listening to what they were trying to tell me. Mr. Jennings, Mr. Laxton, and Mrs. Wicker. It took me far too long to learn the lessons you were trying to teach. I now see Mr. Jennings like a sooth sayer. He tried to warn us of the real world beyond high school. He had to be vague because the future was so uncertain. Because he was vague, we dismissed him. Now that the future has come, we see that the picture he painted was correct and precise. We couldn't see it because we were looking through the picture of the future we had painted for ourselves. Steven Crane tells our tale in the poem "I Met a Seer." If you've never read the poem, look it up and you'll see what I mean. There are many people that I'm glad to have known and would like to hear fromagain: Lee Blazak, Deanna Hart, Barbara Flemming, Delicia Degraffreed, and my good buddy Lolo Foster. Some have passed on. I will miss Mike Fuller dearly. He was a good friend. I wish I could have been there when he needed a friend. Physically, I have a little less hair and I've put on weight. Ok, I'll say it, I'm fat. There are benefits. People are reluctant to give me trouble because I'm big enough to make them think I can hurt them. Time to wrap this up. If you want to reach me, go to my web site by searching the internet for FUMICH and use the e-mail link there.
