Matt's Story
Life
Well, I really don't know were to start with this, so I'll start where my life changed the most....High School. In grade school I was to gently say a nerd who got picked on a lot. Well, 2 weeks into my freshmen year, I was having a good time, but still wasn't totally comftorable till I found my best friends at the time!
To say I had a drug problem was putting it lightly! Every morning I checked into homeroom so my parents wouldn't get called, then skipped the rest of the day at the party house! It got so bad that if I had missed one more day my freshmen year, legitamate or not, I would have flunked. I even managed the good old 0.00 GPA for one quarter even! Fortunately I recovered in time to pass freshmen year, but unfortunately the rest of my group didn't. So from the span of 8th grade to halfway through freshmen year, I went from a nerd who got picked on to a metal head stoner. During Sophmore year, I met my friends who I would keep through till the end of high school, and really started to enjoy high school! I cut down on the skipping, cut out the drugs, and managed to bring my Cumlative GPA to over 3:00 despite my disastourous freshmen year. Our group of friends wasn't the biggest group in high school, but we were well known for being quite the fools and always had each others back. Can you say senior honors night!
After senior year, I decided to take a year off of school to work and save some money. Unfortunately I fell in love with MONEY! $12/hour seems like a lot of money when you just graduated, so I worked at Kohls warehouse for 2 1/2 years and amazingly, o...Expand for more
ther then killing my back I don't regret it. Everyone there was really cool, and I learned a lot about the real world! But all good things must come to an end, so out went 2 discs in my lower back which forced me to quit.
After that I started at GB Electrical where I am still at. I have been promoted 3 times in 4 years, and am working on my 4th! I have pretty much fallen out of touch with all but 2 of my high school friends. The crazy part about that is, my best friend from high school and I were sitting at a McDonalds after school one day senior year, talking about who will still be friends 5 years from now, and we called it to a T! We knew what and how things were going to happen, and that conversation became very close to reality! I have a great girlfriend, and we are talking about moving out soon. I just got a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, my first new car. I am standing up in one of my friends weddings in a couple of months. Just came back from vacation a couple weeks a go and I still have a ton on my plate for the rest of the summer.
If your reading this, and were one of my friends (all 3 of you) from grade school, I want to say what's up. Drop me a line, if I haven't done so already.
If you are someone else I went to grade school with, I probably should hate 99% of you, but that was many bowls, a few hits, and an amazaing # of beers and shots ago, so whatever. The past is the past so ...........
As for my buddies from high school, I think everyone knows how to get in touch with each other if they really wanted to. Still it would be nice to hear from a few of you!
