Matthew's Story
Life
I graduated from Samford University in December 2004 with the Master of Music Education. I moved back to Pensacola while I searched for a music position. After having not successfully landed a desirable position and after an exciting series of events, I will be moving to Tampa at the beginning of August to be the assistant conductor of one of the university choirs and the teaching assistant for a music appreciation class at the University of South Florida. I will also begin studying for the Master of Music in Choral Conducting. Once I finish this, my second master's degree, I will probably immediately go into doctoral work.
Life over the past six years has been quite exciting, between living in Birmingham, studying for my bachelor degree at Birmingham-Southern College and my master's at Samford University, doing my senior internship for my bachelor's degree in New York City, performing and conducting in various venues, meeting wonderful people, continuing great friendships from the past while making new friendships in Birmingham and aro...Expand for more
und the world.
I have only had one serious relationship over the past six years. It was with a wonderful woman with whom my friendship had begun when we were in high school. Things did not work out for us as a couple, but I am very glad that we have remained good friends. I've briefly dated a few women since then, but nothing serious. In all reality, life up until now has not afforded me the time for something serious.
I continue to lighten up more as I get older. My political, social, and theologcial views have moved steadily to the left as I have gotten older. I am much more open-minded than I used to be, and for that I am thankful.
During 2004, I went through a drammatic transformation. Through a medically-supervised diet, weight-training, and cardiovascular exercise, I was able to loose 107 pounds. It is one of my greatest accomplishments in life. I feel the best I have ever felt, look the best I have ever looked, and am a much better person for it. I continue to spend a lot of my free time in the gym, and I absolutely love it.
