so I started as a math major, and after 3 years, defected to Rhetoric. I'd love to continue math, however, and I'm currently on my 9th attempt at a short-form proof for FLT (if you know those initials, no explanation required -- if not, you simply don't want to know...). Rhetoric...so much more than most people can fathom. Closely aligned with math on so many levels -- yes, you heard correctly... OK, so being in my 30's, I didn't exactly fit in very well as a non-trad in college, but the education at Willamette was first-class. I miss playing piano, and long talks with John Doan. I miss Melinda F. -- with whom I never had the chance for a real conversation, and I consider that to be a gravely missed opportunity. Music is my passion (OK, right up there with writing and sushi), and I had the opportunity at Willamette University to take private lessons with some of the best instructors. Still trying to produce that album...hah. Workplace OK, lets recap all the industries I've worked in and companies I've worked for, just for kicks: Restaruant -- busser, dishwasher -- Red Wheel Restaraunt and The Trauler Military -- intelligence analyst, Russian crypto linguist -- Navy Reserves and Air Force Retail (ready for this?) -- cashier, line manager, sales, commission sales, night stockperson, concierge -- 7-11, Home Depot, Home Base, Eagle Hardware, Nordstrom, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Wherehouse Music, etc. ... can I stop already? International Trade -- equipment manager, documentation, traffic manager, import intermodal, assistant customs broker -- Nedlloyd Lines, Norton-Lilly, Geo. S. Bush, Ike Trading, Inchcape Shipping Yeah, cutting out the fat to make a one-page resume was an ordeal... Military 2 years in Navy Intelligence Analysis and 4 years in Air Force Cryptologic Linguistic Intelligence can give one a very different perspective on life. But all-in-all, a great foundation of skills I have employed ever since.
