Matthew's Story
Life
After graduation from Berea High, I went to Tri-C majoring in computer science, I quit after 2 years. Joined the USAF; as an Electrical Power Production Spec. Got married to Susan Strong(class of '82 Berea) on Feb 14,1985 and Divorced in Sept of 1985.
In early July 1990 I was Discharged from the USAF; Honorable.For admitting that I am a Homosexual.
While spending about 9 months in Florida, I met the man; I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. We moved to Columbus, Ohio. August 2009 will be our 19th year together.
Workplace
I first started as a temp in Sept of 1991 in the Gahanna Packaging Dept. Hired full time in the Inventory Dept April 1993. In late 1995 I transferred to the Gahanna DC Shipping Dept and worked on projects to help improve our growth. I mainly worked on 2nd shift; to complete these tasks. In 1998 I was promoted to Team Leader. October 1999 I transferred to 1st shift, upstairs (Higher Education) split case team lead. In 2001 I transferred to the International Dept as...Expand for more
team lead. In May 2005, McGraw-Hill opened a new distribution center in Groveport for our Glencoe product (middle and high school), As the Team Leader of the Groveport DC. Shipping dock.
Dec 2006, I cross trained on the Receiving / Returns dock as Team Lead.
Feb 2007, I retired from McGraw-Hill. I was having eye problems...could not see going into that place for another 15 years. LOL!
April 2007, Have my CDL and am driving cross country for Stevens Transport based out of Dallas TX. Truck #5722
April 2008, Signed a 2 year lease agreement with Stevens Transport, I have my own Tractor a 2006 KW T-2000, truck #9129.
Military
I had a great time in the USAF.
After Basic I was at Sheppard AFB for training in Power production and Aircraft Arresting systems. My first "real" base was Avon Park Bombing Range, Fla. Got married while there and divorced.Next base was Kadena AFB, really had a good time there. Found out who I am and what I am. That means the most, regardless of what the government stands by.
