Matthew's Story
Life
Well, so far I've dealt with cancer, corvettes, college, and now a career! I've had a lot of good fun and hope to have more. I currently teach band grades 5-12 in Pine River, MN, and live in a small house on a lake. This is the life, isn't it?!?
School
Well, high school at Anoka wasn't so bad. I spent the majority of my time localized around the musical side of life. Marching Band was my sport, and I excelled within music. I was an All-State, All Conference trombonist, and played in many things, band, orchestra, pit, etc. I also sang in the choir my senior year.
I made a lot of good friends in high school. We enjoyed football games,...Expand for more
parades, Applebees, and late nights talking in the parking lot. One friend tthat I really miss is Joe Held, who passed away shortly after graduation in July of 2001.
Through the music department, I was able to travel to many great places. These being:
-The East Coast with Marching Band (NY, PA, and Washington DC)
-Finland, Sweeden, and Denmark with the Orchestra
-Calgary Canada, with the MB
-Norway with the Concert Band
Following graduation, I went on (after a year dealing with chemo, radiation, surgery, and other wonderful hospital visits) to Bemidji State to major in Music Education.
