Branch's Story

Member of the trans community. If that bothers you, scroll on or block me. If not, okay! No, I don't want to hear about how much of an ally you believe yourself to be. I also don't need to hear about your cousin who came out as trans. This is a part of me but it is not the only part of me. You know now and there does not need to be anything more said about it. I'm happy. Yes, you used to bully me (many of you but not all of you) but I lived and here I am, being happy. If that makes you mad, good. If you're happy for me, that's great. Yes, I did get sent to an alternative school with other kids who were nonconventional. And yes, I am glad it happened. I was happier with those kids than I ever was in Central. Some of them were super nice people and that's more than I can say was my experience elsewhere. And no, it did not mean I was a "bad kid." or "R worded". I had behavioral issues associated with both the constant bullying at school and the abuse I suffered at home. If you're ashamed to read that, I'm happy to hear you've gotten therapy since 2007. You live and learn. Or you don't and you rot in your misery. Either way, I'm happy. I have a strong sense of community in the local trans and queer scene as well as some in the punk scene (the real punk scene not the e...Expand for more
mo scene from 2004). If you've ever seen anything to do with the rainbow jacket project, Greater Evansville Youth, Pride, haynies corner pride events, or any panels, just know I had a hand in all those pots. I may not have been directly involved but have provided feedback, advice, physical labor, sorting/clerical work. You see it in queer spaces, I've probably taken some interest in it and helped it improve in some way. I'm mostly in an off time for that stuff due to burnout but I plan to get back into the swing of things within the next couple years. Yes, I am still fat. I have PCOS. I've had PCOS since middle school. Yes, that is why I had facial hair back then. Yes, you were a bully for making constant comments about it. Take it up with your therapist. It doesn't particularly matter to me what you're doing or if you are happy. I hope that if you were a bully back then that you've matured and sought therapy but I can't control that. I'm mostly writing this to show you that you did not win. I did. I won. I'm happy and healthy and living my best life with my cat, spending time with my close friends, gardening, woodworking, and occasionally watching my two nieces. Bullying is a gross thing to do but ultimately, it only weighs heavily on the bully in the long run.
